Tales of Vince, Jen, Evin & Katelyn

Yesterday we all went to the park. It was sooo nice outside so we had to get out and do something!

Evin had a great time and DID NOT want to leave. He did all sorts of things while were there…

First, he climbed up the ladder for the slide over and over until his legs couldn’t take it anymore and dad had to lift him up. Then he road in a car, moved some dirt with Dad and played in the sand too. Dad even drew pictures for him. They were so realistic that Evin kissed the fish and got sand in his mouth. YUCK.

Fun fun…

Today Evin wanted to color. So coloring is what he did. He sat in his highchair and used his markers and stuck his stickers. He even gave himself the usual tattoos.

Mom and Dad even drew some things for him. There were things like fish, flowers, a shark, sea weed, a shell and even a robot. All of which he can say by name now. :o) He was so proud of his picture that he wanted to carry it around with him afterward.

Then after a little running around, he wanted to watch Nemo. So, he sat in his bean bag chair and watched it… almost the whole way through. He really loves that movie!

Here are some pics of the artist at work. These might be worth something when he’s super famous and selling his work for millions of dollars.

Look who I caught hanging out on the bean bag chair last night. Looks like Dad and Evin wanted to have a little quiet time together while watching some Nemo before bed time.

How cute…

This post is a wee bit late, but better late than never, right?!

Last weekend we went over to CJ and Kim’s house for steaks and fun. G Gma Cecelia was in town, so we were able to visit for a bit and finally watch her open her Christmas gifts.

Evin had a good time too. The pool was still a little chilly, but Evin got to play on the slip-n-slide with Jarod and Sydney instead. (Let’s not talk about why he’s only wearing a swim diaper when I had his swimming trunks in the house the whole time.) He was also able to sneak away for a little playhouse exploration. Nothing like a little kitchen time in the middle of the day. Maybe he started a roast for dinner and we just forgot about it. Oops!

On Monday, Evin and I went to meet my friends Mike and Liberty at their new office space in Phoenix. They have hired me to help them pick out colors and such so that their space doesn’t look all brown and dull. We had some great discussions about colors and flooring while Evin ran around and explored all of the offices. We’re waiting for flooring samples to come in before we make any final decisions, but I’m looking forward to getting a plan together for them.

Three amazing things happened this past Saturday morning:

1. Evin wanted to wear his bunny ears. He put him on himself and left them on all thru breakfast. This is a new sign of a longer attention span for him. Usually, he puts on a head piece of some sort and then takes it off within a minute or two. But, not the bunny ears. They stayed on!

2. Evin ate his whole breakfast with a fork. It’s not the first time he’s used a fork, but it’s one of the first times he’s used it through a whole meal and he actually did a superb job! He ate everything up!

3. He looked straight into the camera and said, “Cheese!” Now, the bunny ears and the fork are great and all, but this one may be the start of something beautiful! Maybe now I’ll get less shots of the back of his head?! We shall see…

Way to go Evin!

Evin has found a new hiding place to try and trick Mom & Dad. He does this when:

1. He’s in trouble
2. He’s being funny
3. He doesn’t want to do something

It’s all really pretty funny because he thinks you totally can’t see him and he giggles the whole time.

Where’d he go?

There he is!

Vince turned the big 4-0 on Monday. I can’t believe how fast he’s grown. ;o)

On Sunday, we headed over to Gma and Gpa J’s for a birthday celebration. Gma J and the kids went swimming, then we enjoyed a delicious dinner and cake/ice cream and then opened presents. It was all a good time!!

Unfortunately (maybe fortunately for you all), I accidentally “misplaced” 40 of the photos from the end of the evening. I’m pretty upset, but I think the pics I do have still capture the moment. Enjoy!

Happy birthday, Vince/Dad! We love you!

We’ve been wanting to try out some Tempe urban fishing for a while now, but haven’t really gotten around to it. So, we finally decided to give it a go. Vince found out that if you fish within a community then you dont need a license because it’s private land. With that in mind, we headed out to a community with a small man-made lake.

Unfortunately, it was full of carp which eat all of the other fish (or starve them by eating all the vegetation and stuff). So, we (or Vince) didn’t catch anything. It was a disappointment but still fun to get out of the house and let Evin see what this fishing stuff is all about.

He did get to see some turtles and some fish swimming in the water though! And I think we made up for the fishing excursion with a trip to the pet store. He LOVED that!! (video to follow)

Day 4 Evening/Day 5

After the Easter festivities, we headed out to Portland to check into our shoe-box sized hotel room and meet the Padipati family at their house for dinner. It was great to hang out with Rachel and Santosh while Evin played with Zoe and Eleni. They have this really cool basement that they converted into a playroom. It was pretty fun to dig through all of their toys and make a mess. ;o)

On Monday morning we joined Rachel and Eleni in a trip to the children’s museum. This museum was a lot bigger than the one in Phoenix and the kids had a great time. They had the best time in the water area though. I think we could have stayed in there all day and they would’ve been happy. After the museum, it was back to their house for a nap and some visiting. A little while later, we headed out to Uncle Mark’s house for one last visit and then we had to get off to the airport to catch our flight home.

We had so much fun! Thanks to Rachel and Santosh for having us over for dinner on Sunday and for being our children’s museum guide.
