Evin got invited to spend the whole day with Gpa & Gma J and Sydney. They have big plans to go to the Children’s Museum, eat lunch at Chuck E Cheeses and swimming. Evin was so excited when I dropped him off, he was squealing! That was fun to see. :o)

So, what are mom and dad to do without a little munchkin?

See a movie and relax!

Evin has started doing this new laugh. It’s hilarious and totally fake, but I love it. If he wouldn’t spit when he does it then it’d be even more awesome.

Here’s a video I took at our lunch on Monday. Crazy kid.

I’m lucky enough to be able to stay home with Evin every Monday. I love our days together. I feel like I never accomplish nearly what I set out to do (I figure I need a week off to do that), but it’s great to spend some time hanging out with my little man. :o)

Yesterday, we did something a little different. We had an impromptu lunch out–just Mom and Evin. I’ve been craving the cobb salad from Mimi’s Cafe for a looooong time now and since we were in the area I decided to stop in.

We sat in a booth, just the two of us, and had a great time. Evin entertained me with his citrus eating, pointed out various things on the walls (especially the “big red fish”), colored a bit, practiced his new, hilarious laugh and munched down a pizzadilla with fries (yes, that says PIZZA-DILLA–gross, I know, but he ate it).

Today was Vince’s 2nd Father’s Day and I think it’s been a good one so far!! After a yummy McDonald’s breakfast (Dad’s favorite!), Evin gave him his gift and helped him open it. It was a frog book that he had his eye on the last time that we were at the book store. It’ll be a fun book for Vince and Evin to look through together. Might be hard for Evin to understand that he can carry it around and rip the pages like he does with his other books though. :o)

Then Vince wanted to take Evin to his first movie. So, we went out this morning to Toy Story 3. Evin did pretty well! We thought we were going to lose him because he got bored during the previews, but once the movie started he was good. We had our arsenal of popcorn, M&M’s and soda. He was set. This was even his first time eating peanuts!! It’s something you get to do when you’re getting close to two. Next thing you know it’ll be rated R movies and driving. Oy!

When I asked him if he had fun, he said, “Ya!” and then mumbled something about what he saw in the movie. Fun times!!

Every night when Evin goes to bed, we go through our ritual…

1. Get into his PJ’s
2. Read a book or play for 10 more minutes
3. Say “Night nights!” to the fish
4. Get into bed
5. Mom fetches him some “iiiccce waaater”

He usually carries one or two things to bed as well. Lately, he’s been taking his shark books. One thing that’s funny about it is that he always neatly places his toys and books around him. He’ll never hold on to his train or fish or shark. He places them on the side as though they’re going to sleep right along with him. We can only assume that he stands up his books so that he can still see them as he goes to sleep.

Evin and I were talking about our upcoming trip to Nebraska yesterday, so I grabbed a photo of Gma and Gpa W to show him who we were going to see.

It was pretty cute.

Get ready, Gma & Gpa! He’s ready to come and tell you about fish. ;o)

Some of you may know about my passion for sticking a camera in people’s faces. I just love taking photos. Anywhere. Anytime. Especially of kids, if you haven’t noticed!

Well, while I was in Albuquerque a couple weeks ago, I was able to do an impromptu photo shoot with my friend Colleen and her family. The setting was perfect and they were all great models! It was so nice to have a child look at the camera for once!

I had so much fun. I’m so thankful and glad that they let me shoot them. :o)

Here are Colleen, Keith and Kellen Erdman.

Monday was a busy day for me and Evin, but it was fun!

After swimming lessons, Gma J came over for a little visit. Evin got to show her his real, live tiger fish and read his fish book and shark book to her. After she left, we left to meet my friend Elissa and her two kids, Carter and Molly, for a play date at the Tempe Marketplace fountain. Evin had been here before when he was a lot younger and loved it, but he wasn’t much of a fan this time. I’m not sure what he wasn’t crazy about. The water was pretty chilly, but that’s never stopped him before… so I’m not sure. He warmed up a little bit and played with Carter for a while but quickly grew tired of everything and it was time to go. It was great seeing Elissa though! Even if we didn’t get to visit too much. It’s so hard with 3 kids to keep our eyes on. :o) Some day we’ll get a mom’s night out… some day.

After our play date, we came home and Evin wanted to read his shark book. “Sit down, Mom! Read it?” I got that a lot.

Then Dad came home and we went to Lowe’s to get a more permanent fix for the sprinkler in the back yard. Evin got to help him replace it. He thought it was a good idea to use the hose on it. He went and grabbed it for Dad to use. What a big help! He even packed down the dirt by stepping on it. What hard work. :o) So hard that he needed some play and resting time with the bean bag chair. Then it was off to bed!! Drink, please!

We had a good Sunday this weekend. We hung around the house in the morning and then headed over to “Aunt Chris” and Aunt Kim’s house for some swimming. Gma J wanted to show Vince and I some of Evin’s new swimming skills. He’s quite the fish for sure! He was swimming under water and jumping in all over the place. What a little fish!! I hope Nebraska is ready for this guy… he’s going to need to show off his skills, for sure. :o)

After swimming, we headed home for a nap. After waking up, Evin ate some dinner, where he showed his new “I’m in trouble” face. When he got in trouble for throwing his food on the floor, he sat there and covered his eyes. It was really funny. When he was done pouting, he read a book on his newly clean bed sheets and then headed outside to help Dad change out a sprinkler. He also made a stop by the pool to do some pretend swimming. Who needs water?

Later that night, he played in the living room while we watched a little TV. It seems that his bucket is now a hat… fully equipped with a nose strap. How handy!!

Oh, and I got a couple pics with him saying, “CHEESE!” Progress!!

Vince picked up a couple of shrimp at the pet store on Friday. We’re already missing one (I’ve actually never seen it) and the one left loves to hang up at the top. I think he’s a little afraid of being eaten by the fish. Maybe his buddy will turn up some day. I’m sure he’s terribly lonely.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like our plants are doing so well. They’re deteriorating pretty rapidly. Vince is thinking it was from their shipping. Whatever it is, I’m not sure if they’re going to last. Maybe they’ll just get down to little stumps and then grow back. We shall see.

On a happier note, we haven’t lost any fish this week! Here’s a pic of the happy Tiger Barbs. They’re pretty cool because they come up to the glass and swim around when you get close. It’s a really cool thing for Evin. :o)
